Ghana Beach Soccer national team coach Daniel Kotey Neeguaye has confidently declared that Nigeria’s Sand Eagles will not defeat the Black Sharks in the return leg of their Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations qualifier, insisting that his team is determined to finish the job on home soil.
The two West African rivals played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in Kaduna in the first leg, leaving qualification finely balanced ahead of the decisive encounter in Ghana.
Speaking ahead of the return fixture, Kotey dismissed suggestions that Nigeria could overturn Ghana’s home advantage, expressing confidence in his players’ ability to secure victory.
“We know them. We are going to prepare well and meet them in Ghana. We are waiting for them in Ghana,” Kotey declared.
The Ghanaian coach went further, issuing a direct warning to the Sand Eagles about the challenge awaiting them in the return encounter.
“Nigeria cannot beat us. We are going there and beat them,” he insisted.
“We are not going to entertain them.”
Ghana’s confidence follows their impressive showing in the opening leg, where they matched Nigeria’s intensity to secure a draw away from home.
The result means neither side has established a decisive advantage, making the return fixture crucial to determining which team progresses to the continental tournament.
For Nigeria, the challenge will be to overcome a Ghanaian side buoyed by its first-leg performance and the prospect of playing in front of home supporters.
Kotey, however, believes his team possesses the determination required to complete the qualification assignment.
His remarks underline the growing intensity surrounding the West African rivalry, with both countries eager to secure a place at the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.
With qualification still undecided, Kotey has made Ghana’s intentions unmistakable: the Black Sharks are not preparing merely to compete against Nigeria but are determined to secure victory and advance to the continental finals.
