Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons’ interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen is ready to experiment with his starting line-up for Tuesday’s clash with Comoros in the second leg of their African qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games.
Sports247 gathered that, with the Falcons enjoying a 2-0 lead from the first leg that was played at the same venue last Friday, Eguavoen feels assured that a rotation of his squad would still be good enough to give Nigeria victory on Tuesday.
Consequently, the former Super Eagles’ defender, captain and head coach, who is now the technical director of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly looking towards lining out some previously untested players for the upcoming fixture in Ogun State.
A preview by the NFF’s communications department noted in part, “Goals by Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu earned the 10-time African champions a 2-0 win on Friday, leaving them with an advantage as they push for a second successive appearance at the Olympics.
“The Indian Ocean islanders’ lack of a CAF-approved venue for international matches means Nigeria have home advantage for both games of the fixture, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
“On Tuesday, the coaching crew may decide to try youngster Christiana Uzoma in goal, with the likes of Farida Abdulwahab and Tumininu Adeshina also available for defensive duties. Suliat Abideen was impressive when she came on in the second period on Friday, and could be given a starting role this time.
“Former U17 team captain Shakirat Moshood and Folashade Ijamilusi are options at the fore, as well as Blessing Nkor and Blessing Okpe who both play in Belarus, and Sweden-based Joy Omewa, (with eyes on a) third-round fixture against Morocco in March 2027.”
