Super Falcons forward Uchenna Kanu has declared that Nigeria are determined to secure another convincing victory over Comoros in their second-leg encounter, insisting that the team possesses the quality, preparation and collective ambition to deliver a commanding performance.
The Super Falcons head into the return fixture with a two-goal advantage after defeating Comoros 2-0 in the first leg at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
Despite their comfortable position, Kanu believes the Nigerian side must maintain their attacking mentality and demonstrate greater efficiency in front of goal as they seek to complete the job.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference, the forward expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and the quality available within the squad, Sports247 gathered.
“I think for me, this is huge, and for the rest of my teammates. I think we have been preparing well, and I think we have the squad. We want to win well and score more goals,” Kanu stated.
While Nigeria’s first-leg victory provided a solid foundation, Kanu’s comments suggest that the Super Falcons are not prepared to settle for simply protecting their advantage.
Instead, the forward wants the team to approach the second leg with renewed determination, creating more scoring opportunities and making their attacking presence count.
Her confidence reflects the positive atmosphere within the Nigerian camp, where preparations have continued ahead of the decisive encounter.
With a two-goal cushion already secured, another strong attacking performance would further strengthen Nigeria’s chances of progressing.
However, Kanu’s emphasis on collective preparation also highlights the importance of teamwork as the Super Falcons seek to translate their ambitions into results on the pitch.
Beyond the immediate challenge against Comoros, Kanu revealed that qualifying for the Olympic Games remains a major objective for the players.
“The Olympics, generally, with the Super Falcons, to qualify for the Olympics is what we are looking forward to,” she explained.
Her remarks underline the significance of the team’s campaign, with the players motivated by the opportunity to represent Nigeria on one of the biggest stages in international sport.
For Kanu and her teammates, the journey is about more than winning individual matches. It is also about building momentum, maintaining consistency and moving closer to their qualification objective.
The Super Falcons will approach the second leg knowing that their 2-0 first-leg advantage puts them in a favourable position.
Nevertheless, Kanu’s determination to score more goals sends a clear message that Nigeria intend to remain ambitious rather than adopt an overly cautious approach.
With confidence growing within the squad and Olympic qualification firmly in their sights, the Super Falcons will be looking to produce another convincing display against Comoros.
For Uchenna Kanu, the mission is straightforward: win convincingly, score more goals and take another important step towards Nigeria’s Olympic dream.
