“We Are Not Done Yet” — Nnadozie Warns Super Falcons Against Complacency After Comoros Victory

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has warned her teammates against complacency ahead of Tuesday’s return leg against Comoros, insisting that Nigeria must improve on its first-leg performance despite securing a 2-0 victory in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers.

Nnadozie believes the Super Falcons cannot afford to underestimate their opponents, stressing that international football has become increasingly competitive as emerging nations continue to close the gap on traditionally stronger teams.

“Football is no longer a world or a place whereby you define a team by the name of the country or whatever,” Nnadozie said.

The Nigerian goalkeeper maintained that the team remains determined to deliver a better performance in the reverse fixture, acknowledging that the first-leg victory represents only part of the work required to progress.

“Coming into the next game, we will try and give our best. We are not done yet, so we will try everything we can to make sure we get the job done,” she explained.

Nigeria secured the advantage through second-half goals from Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu after struggling to convert their chances in a goalless first half. Nnadozie, who plays for Brighton & Hove Albion Women in England, stressed that the Super Falcons are continuing to work on improving their overall performance rather than becoming satisfied with the opening result.

The goalkeeper acknowledged the progress being made by other national teams, insisting that reputation alone can no longer guarantee victory in international football.

Both legs are being staged at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo because Comoros do not have a CAF-approved venue. The aggregate winner will advance to the third qualifying round, where Morocco await.

With only two African qualification places available for the Los Angeles Olympics, Nigeria must negotiate several rounds before securing a ticket.

For Nnadozie, the 2-0 advantage is encouraging, but the message remains clear: the Super Falcons must raise their performance, respect Comoros and complete the job on Tuesday.
