Sporting Lagos will aim to end their run of consecutive draws when they host Bendel Insurance at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, on Sunday in Matchday 8 of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The match, scheduled for 4:00 p.m., presents a fresh challenge for Sporting Lagos as they look to turn their recent performances into maximum points in front of their home supporters.

The Lagos-based side have drawn their last two league matches, playing out a goalless result against Ikorodu City before securing a 1–1 draw against Kano Pillars in Katsina.
Against Kano Pillars, Sporting Lagos took the lead through Valentine Ugwu in first-half stoppage time, but Abdullahi Musa restored parity shortly after the restart.
Although the result earned them a point away from home, Sporting Lagos will know that another draw would leave them still searching for a return to winning ways.
Their next opponents, however, arrive with confidence after Bendel Insurance recorded an emphatic 4–1 victory over Barau FC in their previous league outing.
Kayode Oke scored twice in that encounter, while Suraju Lawal and Jonathan James also got on the scoresheet to complete the win for the Benin-based side.
That attacking display will give Bendel Insurance encouragement ahead of their trip to Lagos, although repeating the performance against Sporting Lagos will require another disciplined effort.
For the hosts, keeping Bendel Insurance’s attacking players under control while making better use of their own opportunities could prove crucial to the outcome.
Playing at home also gives Sporting Lagos an opportunity to respond positively in front of their supporters. However, they will need to be more decisive in the final third if they are to turn their recent draws into three points.
Bendel Insurance, meanwhile, will look to build on their victory over Barau FC and carry that momentum into Sunday’s encounter.
With Sporting Lagos seeking a return to winning ways and Bendel Insurance aiming to maintain their positive form, the meeting presents an important test for both sides as the NPFL campaign progresses.
