Michael “Hitman” Ani and two-time West African Welterweight Champion Taiwo “Gentle Boy” Olowu will headline the second edition of The Street Rumble in Lagos.
Match Makers Sports International has confirmed the super-welterweight clash for Sunday, December 13, 2026, at Maracana Square, Ajegunle, as the grassroots boxing event returns for its second season.
The bout is expected to be one of the major attractions on a card designed to showcase emerging Nigerian boxing talent and give fighters a platform to gain wider attention.
Olowu comes into the contest with considerable experience on the Nigerian boxing scene. The boxer, known as “Gentle Boy,” has competed across the welterweight and super-welterweight divisions and has a professional record of 19 wins and four defeats, according to the World Boxing Association.
He also captured the West African Boxing Union super-welterweight title in December 2023 after defeating Ghana’s Alidu “Dynamite” Sulemana by split decision.
Olowu has continued to feature in major domestic boxing events, including his 2024 bout against Jafaru “Armor Tanka” Suleiman at GOtv Boxing Night 32.
For Ani, the Street Rumble main event presents an opportunity to share the spotlight with one of the more experienced names in Nigeria’s professional boxing scene.
Sports247 gathered that the Ani-Olowu fight will form the main attraction of Street Rumble Season 2, with Match Makers Sports International looking to build on the success of the inaugural edition held earlier this year.
The second edition will also have an international touch, with former Olympic gold medallist and WBO heavyweight champion Ray Mercer confirmed as a special ringside guest. Brila Media has also been announced as the official media partner.
The organisers have said the event is aimed at promoting grassroots boxing and creating opportunities for young fighters to develop their careers.
With Ani and Olowu now confirmed for the main event, attention will turn to preparations for what promises to be a major boxing night in Ajegunle.
