Victor Osimhen Returns to Galatasaray Training Ahead of Barcelona Champions League Clash

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has returned to training with Galatasaray as he continues his recovery from injury and works towards regaining full fitness ahead of a crucial period for the Turkish champions.

Sports247 reports that Osimhen’s return to the training ground will come as a welcome development for Galatasaray, who will be hoping the Nigerian international can recover sufficiently to feature in their UEFA Champions League encounter against Barcelona on October 13, 2026.

Before the Champions League assignment, Galatasaray are scheduled to face Kasimpasa in the Turkish league on Friday, October 9, providing another possible opportunity for Osimhen to continue his return-to-play programme.

The Nigerian forward sustained the injury during Galatasaray’s 3-1 victory over Başakşehir, despite scoring in the encounter. He had also found the net in Galatasaray’s subsequent 3-2 home victory over Göztepe before his fitness setback became a concern.

Osimhen was subsequently unavailable as Galatasaray suffered a 3-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League.

His absence has been felt by the Turkish champions, who have experienced mixed results during the period. Galatasaray secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Kocaelispor in September but were later handed a heavy 4-0 defeat by Trabzonspor.

With the Barcelona clash approaching, Osimhen’s gradual return to training provides an encouraging development for Okan Buruk’s side as they prepare for another demanding Champions League fixture.

The Nigerian striker remains an important attacking option for Galatasaray, having already demonstrated his goalscoring influence since joining the club.

However, his immediate priority will be completing his recovery and building up his fitness before returning to competitive action.

Galatasaray will therefore monitor Osimhen’s progress closely over the coming days, with the Kasimpasa fixture arriving before the much-anticipated Champions League meeting with Barcelona.

For the Super Eagles forward, the focus is now on returning to full fitness and getting back on the pitch as Galatasaray navigate a crucial stage of their domestic and European campaigns.
