As commentators continue rolling out accolades for Nigeria’s array of giant strikers in football, a gangling teenager from Young Stars FC of Satellite Town, Lagos has joined the roster.
Sports247 reports that Prince Anyadike is the newest candidate in the class of Nigeria’s lanky hitmen – currently led by Tolu Arokodare and Paul Onuachu – but the latest revelation appears to be the tallest of them all, though still at the grassroots.
Incidentally, Anyadike currently plays for the same club that produced Onuachu and, while looking up to Super Eagles’ star as an inspiration, the leggy attacker disclosed that he actually taller than the Trabzonspor of Turkey striker.
Anyadike, who grew up in Onitsha, where he attended Christ De Immaculate School (CDIS) and played football only on the streets, said he is happy to follow in the same foosteps Onuachu followed and hopes to be equally successful as the dark-skinned icon.
“I am happy that I am playing for the same club that produced Onuachu. People are always comparing me with him, but I always tell them that I am taller than him.
Anyadike disclosed, “He is 6’7” but I am 6’8” and I am still growing. Some people say I should be a basketball player, but I prefer this football that I’ve already chosen and I want to succeed in it.
“I admire Onuachu, Victor Osimhen and Erling Haaland. That’s why I combine a little bit of their skills to my own so that I can play better and I thank my agent, Mr Tomiwa, for bringing me to Young Stars.
“I always try to work hard to make him proud of me. I also thank my teammates for supporting me as I keep growing I’m the game, as well as Coach Hyginus Okoye, who is now leading us after the death of our mentor, Coach Osahon. May his sould rest in peace.”
