Four Matches, Four Wins: Aruna Makes Perfect Start to Life in French Pro B

Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna has made a perfect individual start to his campaign in the French Pro B League, winning all four of his singles matches as Amiens STT recorded consecutive victories to begin the season.

The Nigerian table tennis star was again central to Amiens’ success as they defeated Nantes TT 3-1 on Tuesday, following their opening victory against Fréjus.

Aruna began the night against Antoine Doyen and was forced to work for the opening point.

After taking the first game 11-9, the Nigerian lost the next two 7-11 and 9-11 to fall behind.

But the 38-year-old responded strongly, taking the fourth game 11-5 before completing the comeback with an 11-5 victory in the deciding game.

Amiens extended their advantage through Grégoire Jean, although Nantes later pulled one point back to keep the contest alive.

That left Aruna with another opportunity to decide the match.

Facing Esteban Dorr, the Nigerian produced a more controlled performance, winning 11-6, 11-6, 9-11 and 11-8 to secure his second victory of the night and complete Amiens’ 3-1 win.

The result means Aruna has now won four singles matches across his opening two league appearances for the French club.

His latest performance follows another two win display against Fréjus, where he also played an important role in Amiens’ winning start.

For Aruna, the early run provides positive momentum as he settles into another season of European club competition.

The Nigerian has spent several years competing at the highest levels of international table tennis, carrying the country’s flag at major global tournaments while also playing professionally in Europe.

His first two Pro B outings this season have now produced the strongest possible individual return.

Four matches have brought four victories.

And while the French league campaign remains young, Aruna has wasted little time reminding his opponents of the threat he carries whenever he steps up to the table.
