Sports247 reports that, at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, the People’s Elephant defeated visiting Shooting Stars 4-2 in a six-goal encounter to claim maximum points.
Richard Ezinna opened the scoring for Enyimba in the seventh minute before Damian Chibueze doubled the advantage in the 29th minute.
The hosts continued their impressive first-half display, with Idris Abubakar making it 3-0 in the 36th minute.
Enyimba added a fourth shortly after the restart through Ifeanyi Ihemekwele, who struck in the 49th minute to put the home side firmly in control.
Shooting Stars responded late in the contest, with Mustapha Adams Agba’a pulling one back in the 76th minute before Johnmark Aule scored in the first minute of added time.
The late rally, however, could not prevent Enyimba from securing a convincing 4-2 victory and returning to winning ways.
In Lagos, Sporting Lagos and Ikorodu City played out a 0-0 draw in a tightly contested derby.
The result means the Oga Boys picked up a valuable point from the encounter, while both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils after failing to find the breakthrough.
Meanwhile, Rangers International secured a narrow away victory over Warri Wolves in Ozoro. Godwin Obaje converted from the penalty spot in the 11th minute to give the Flying Antelopes a 1-0 lead, which they successfully protected until the final whistle.
The victory gives the defending champion another important three points on the road as the defending champions continue their campaign.
At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United and Rivers United shared the points after playing out a 1-1 draw. Rivers United took the lead two minutes after the restart when Samson Olasupo found the back of the net in the 47th minute.
The advantage lasted just three minutes, however, as Sani Mubarak restored parity for Katsina United with a well-taken free-kick in the 50th minute.
Neither side could find a decisive second goal thereafter, ensuring the points were shared.
With the rescheduled Matchday 2 fixtures now delivering victories for Enyimba and Rangers alongside draws in Lagos and Katsina, attention will turn to the next round of NPFL action as clubs continue their pursuit of valuable points.
