Super Falcons interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen has unveiled a 28-player squad for Nigeria’s 2028 Olympic Games qualifying encounters against Comoros.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade will lead the squad, with established stars including goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Asisat Oshoala, Oluwatosin Demehin and Michelle Alozie also included.
One of the major talking points is the return of Ashleigh Plumptre, who is back with the national team after missing the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations through injury.
Eguavoen has also opened the door for a number of promising youngsters, with Christiana Uzoma, Farida Abdulwahab, Tumininu Adeshina, Favour Nkwocha, Shakirat Moshood, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and Janet Akekoromowei all earning places in the squad.
The inclusion of Adegbuyi is particularly notable as the forward gets an opportunity to make her mark at senior international level following her performances for Nigeria’s youth team.
However, Esther Okoronkwo is not included in the squad as Nigeria prepares for the two-legged Olympic qualifying tie.
Both fixtures will be played at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium in Ikenne-Remo after Comoros failed to provide a CAF-approved venue for the encounters.
Nigeria will host the first leg on Friday, October 9, before the return fixture on Tuesday, October 13.
The Super Falcons received a bye into the second round of the Olympic qualifying campaign, while Comoros progressed after overcoming Sudan in the previous round.
With a place in the next stage at stake, Eguavoen will hope his blend of experienced players and emerging talents can deliver a strong start to Nigeria’s Olympic qualification campaign.
