The battle lines have been drawn for a bigger and more competitive season as Island AllStars Sports Club Lagos prepares to kick off the Island AllStars PatrickLingo League 2026 on Saturday, October 3, at its traditional home, the Lagos Business School Field.
This season comes with a major twist as five teams will battle for the championship, compared with four in 2025, promising more competition, fresh rivalries and an even tougher road to the coveted title.
The five teams unveiled for the new campaign are Daily Manna Bakery, Jendol Superstores, Wellborn Hotel, Remed Health Care and Zudachi Construction, with each side carrying the identity of its respective brand into what promises to be an intriguing season.
Last year’s competition produced a dramatic championship race, with Lugna Properties eventually emerging champions with 13 points, sealing the crown with a decisive 2-0 victory over Drexel Apartments on the final day.
The expansion to five teams underlines the continued growth of Island AllStars and raises expectations that the 2026 edition could deliver an even more unpredictable title battle.
The competition gets underway under the leadership of club President Chief Kenneth Okeke Azubugwu (Orimili) and the Executive Council, with the Sports Management Committee (SMC) overseeing preparations, including team seeding, appointment of coaches and fixture arrangements.
IASC Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Emeka Agukwe has challenged players and supporters to make the new season another celebration of football, friendship and fraternity.
“Let the games begin. Let the legacy grow.”
He urged players to compete with pride and commitment while reminding supporters that healthy rivalry, light-hearted banter and sportsmanship should remain at the heart of the competition.
The league arrives after another successful sporting event for the club, with Dinice Royal Investment emerging champions of the 2026 Above-45 Tournament, reinforcing Island AllStars’ commitment to competitive sport, fitness and active living.
Now attention turns to the five new contenders.
