Niger Tornadoes head coach Kabiru Dogo has admitted that a costly lapse in concentration contributed to his side’s narrow defeat to former club Nasarawa United at the Lafia City Stadium.
Sports247 reports that Dogo, who returned to Lafia to face his former employers, acknowledged the competitive nature of the encounter while congratulating Nasarawa United on securing the important victory.
“Congratulations to Nasarawa United. Both teams did very well, but my team lost concentration, and were punished by United,” Dogo said after the match.
The defeat will come as a disappointment for Tornadoes, who battled hard throughout the encounter but were unable to prevent their hosts from claiming maximum points.
For Dogo, the match carried added significance given his previous association with Nasarawa United. However, the experienced coach maintained a respectful tone after the final whistle, choosing to focus on the performance of both teams rather than dwell on the outcome.
He also wished both clubs well as they continue their respective NPFL campaigns.
“I wish both teams well, going forward,” he added.
Niger Tornadoes will now have to quickly regroup and address the concentration issues identified by their coach as they prepare for their next league assignment.
For Nasarawa United, the victory provides another opportunity to build momentum as the Lafia-based side continues its push for improved results in the NPFL.
