A Nigerian-born youngsgter, David Eze is at the centre of a double swoop by Manchester United of England into the youth academy of their local rivals, Manchester Citty, as The Red Devils have hooked him and teenage international midfielder, Karim Cassim.
Sports247 reports that, while Eze’s arrival at Old Traffford was confirmed before Cassim’s announcement, they were both awaiting official clearance by the Premier League before completing their switches from Man City, which eventually happened on Thursday.
The switch by Eze and Cassim from Manchester’s blue side to the red one – Etttihad Stadium to Old Traffford – was eventually signed, sealed and delivered, as part of United chairman, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s push to strengthen youth recruitment by his team.
While Eze’s status is still evolving, Cassim is already an England teenage international and he is strongly regarded as a promising, versatile midfielder who can operate both in box-to-box or deep roles, with goal threat from middle of the park.
A reoort by SecretScout on X added, “Eze has been a United target since the start of the summer when it became clear he was leaving Manchester City’s youth setup. United have now finalised a deal for Eze to join the Red Devils.
“Arsenal made an offer, but the young midfielder has chosen United. Eze was born in Dublin, Ireland and was rated as one of the most exciting prospects in Manchester City’s academy. It was the player’s decision to leave City’s youth set up, rather than a club decision to release him.”
Sports247 gathered further that Eze had all along been regarded as one of the most promising young players in Manchester City’s academy and, although he had yet to become a household name, scouts across England had already taken note of his potential.
His performances at youth level attracted interest from multiple clubs, but Manchester United led the race to secure his services as a significant long-term potential, with attributes that can see him develop into a high-level professional after signing the deal at Carrington.
