Super Eagles’ head coach, Eric Sekou Chelle has raised the ante ahead of his team’s battle with Madagascar this Friday at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where he stressed that his players must gun for maximum points ‘without hesitation.’
Sports247 reports that, with memory still fresh about how the Eagles drew several home matches in their ill-fated 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification race, Chelle admitted that his players must hit the ground running this time out, in order to avoid scary permutations later in the race.
The former coach of Mali’s national team and MC Oran of Algeria acknowledged further that his team must start the race by winning their first two matches and consolidate during the next stage, to prevent uncertainty of a late struggle or failing to qualify all together.
He added that victory over Madagascar is imperative this Friday at The Nest of Champions and away to Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday for them to establish a comfortable cushion early in the race to AFCON 2027.
“We have to show everyone from Day One that we want it. The only way to do that is to go for it with our hearts, and refuse to slow down at any point. We must go for the points without any hesitation,” Chelle said.
Sports247 noted further that Chelle is eagerly looking forward to victory in the first match versus Madagascar, after which he will focus on the flight to Bissau on Sunday for his team’s Match Day 2 encounter against The Wild Dogs.
