Nigeria’s female youth national team, Falconets’ coach, Moses Aduku is picking positives from his squad’s outing at this year’s FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, where they fell to Colombia on Sunday.
Sports247 reports that the team’s 1-0 loss in Lodz meant Aduku’s squad could not replicate the runners-up spots that Nigeria achieved at the 2010 and 2014 editions, but the gaffer declared that they made a bold statement.
The ex-youth international, who is also the coach of Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions, Edo Queens of Benin City, averred that a major gain from the Falconets’ exploits at Poland 2026 is in how they revealed that a bright future lies ahead of the country.
He went on to predict promising years ahead for the players, based on their brilliant 3-0 win over England in the round of 16 last Thursday, and that it was only after they suffered a red card on Sunday that Colombia could score against them in the quarter-finals.
With many analysts echoing that the Falconets played better than the Colombians during the pulsating game in Stadion Miejski LKS Lodz, Aduku picked positives for Nigeria’s future and the careers of his gallant players.
“This tournament is good for the young players. It gives them the ability to grow and reach the next level. We have seen the future of our players and I think the future is very bright,” Aduku predicted.
