Coventry City of England striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has disclosed that he enrolled for a post-graduate diploma programme because ‘education has become a very important’ of his journey in life and he wants to keep on learning when off the pitch.
Sports247 reports that Awoniyi made this known when he took to social media to reveal his recent graduation with a merit grade Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship from England’s Professional Players Association (PFA) Business School.

The 29-year-old former Nottingham Forest of England attacker, who previously played for top clubs in Belgium and Germany, disclosed further that he decided to attend the course because he iis already thinking about life after football once he retires.
He equally served a hint that he would still remain in the game after hanging his boots, hence the choice of an institution that offers current and former players opportunities to prepare for careers in football management, leadership, operations, sporting strategy and marketing.
While providing foundations for retired players to continue in football as a sporting director, the course that Awoniyi attended is taken part-time over two academic years, with the qualification awarded by the University of Portsmouth in collaboration with the PFA Business School.
The Super Eagles’ fringe player, who shot to limelight in the trophy-winning Golden Eglets’ squad of UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup, after which he signed for Liverpool of England, but never played a competitive match for them, also revealed that he always had a passion for education.
An appreciative Awoniyi posted, “I have always believed that being a footballer shouldn’t stop you from being a student of the game, and education has become an important part of that journey for me. Thank you to everyone at the PFA Business School.
“(Thanks too to) the lecturers and my colleagues, with whom I had the opportunity to learn alongside. And a special thank you to my family and friends for their encouragement and support throughout. Still playing and still learning. The journey continues.”
