Nathan Tella Returns to Training After Injury Layoff, Boost for Leverkusen and Super Eagles

Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen forward Nathan Tella has returned to training after recovering from a back injury that kept him sidelined in recent weeks.

Sports247 reports that Tella has made just one appearance for Bayer Leverkusen so far this season, featuring in the DFB-Pokal clash against Wehen Wiesbaden, where he marked his return to action with a goal in an impressive 4-0 victory.

However, the Nigerian international was subsequently ruled out of Bayer Leverkusen’s last three Bundesliga matches after suffering a back injury.

The 27-year-old has now completed his recovery and is back in training as he looks to regain full match fitness and work his way back into the team.

Tella’s return comes at an important stage of the season, with the versatile forward hoping to force his way into regular first-team contention at the German champions.

His pace, versatility and attacking ability could provide another option for Leverkusen as they navigate their domestic and European commitments.

The development is equally encouraging for the Super Eagles, with Nigeria preparing for their upcoming AFCON qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle will be hoping Tella can quickly regain his fitness and return to competitive action, giving Nigeria another attacking option ahead of the crucial qualifiers.

After an encouraging start to the season with his goal against Wehen Wiesbaden, Tella will now focus on building his fitness and securing more playing time as he targets a strong return to both club and international football.
