Showtime Flag Football League is raising the bar once again ahead of Season XV, announcing a ₦60 million reward commitment while revealing plans for a newly designed Showtime Bowl championship trophy valued at no less than US$20,000, alongside championship rings for the eventual winners.
The investment represents another major statement from Showtime as it continues its drive to build a professional flag football property capable of setting new standards for the sport in Nigeria and across Africa.
At the centre of the Season XV battle will be Showtime Bowl XV, where the champions will collect ₦15 million in cash, lift the newly designed championship trophy and receive individual championship rings. The runners-up will receive ₦6 million.
The trophy itself is being designed as a premium symbol of Showtime supremacy, with an expected value of at least $20,000. Rather than simply presenting the champions with another piece of silverware, Showtime wants the new trophy to reflect the prestige, growth and long-term ambition of its flagship championship.
Every championship ring is also expected to be valued at at least $30, giving members of the winning team a permanent personal reminder of their achievement.
There will be significant money to chase before Showtime Bowl XV. The Regular Season Champion will receive ₦5 million, while the 5v5 Cup Champion will take home ₦4 million.
Showtime is also investing directly in its outstanding athletes. The Male and Female MVPs will each receive ₦1 million in cash plus a ₦1 million contract payable over 12 months, while members of the Team of the Season will receive ₦300,000 each, excluding the MVPs. Players selected for the Team of the Week will also receive ₦10,000 each, with league terms and conditions applying.
The scale of the package reinforces Showtime’s philosophy that professional flag football must offer more than competition. It must create value, prestige, recognition and genuine opportunities for athletes.
For sponsors and prospective commercial partners, Season XV also presents a growing sports-marketing platform. From weekly player recognition and the regular-season championship to the 5v5 Cup, playoffs and Showtime Bowl XV, the league offers multiple opportunities for brands to become part of the competition and its biggest moments.
With flag football preparing for its Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028, Showtime is continuing to invest ahead of what could become a transformative period for the sport globally.
Season XV will run from September 20, 2026 to May 2, 2027, when the campaign reaches its climax at Showtime Bowl XV.
By then, one team will have earned much more than the title of champion.
There will be ₦15 million in championship prize money, premium championship rings and a newly designed trophy worth at least $20,000 waiting at the summit.
For Showtime, that is the message behind the investment: if the league wants its athletes to compete like professionals, winning must look, feel and be rewarded like professional sport.
Season XV is raising the stakes — and Showtime is raising the standard.
