Local Organising Secretary of the Invincible Cup 2026, Christopher Oladipupo, has described the tournament as an important platform for discovering and supporting young football talents, following the conclusion of the competition.
Speaking to SPORTS247 after the final, Oladipupo said the tournament represents an investment in the future of grassroots football and the development of emerging players.

“This is a great step to avail talents and support them in the preparation of the future ahead,” he said.
The Invincible Cup 2026 concluded with Santos Sports Academy emerging champions after defeating Winning Star 4-2 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time at the NUD Playing Ground, Olose Ifo.
Reflecting on the final, Oladipupo acknowledged the efforts of both teams and believes the eventual champions deserved their success, while noting the unpredictable nature of penalty shootouts.
“The best team won. Penalty shootout is a lucky game. Winning Stars fought well,” he stated.
Beyond the success of the Invincible Cup, Oladipupo revealed that the organisers are already looking ahead to their next major initiative — the IFO Sports Award, scheduled for either December 2026 or January 2027.
“Next in December or January, IFO Sports Award is the next line of action,” he disclosed.
The organising secretary also used the opportunity to appreciate the tournament’s sponsor, particularly the young Chief Executive Officer of TopChoice Semiaq Royal Hotel & Suites, for supporting the competition.
According to Oladipupo, securing sponsorship for grassroots sporting events remains a major challenge, making the commitment of individuals and organisations willing to invest in young athletes particularly important.
“It’s not easy to get a sponsor, but the young CEO is indeed a Godsent,” he said.
Oladipupo’s comments underline the broader objective of the Invincible Cup — creating opportunities for young footballers while building stronger support systems around grassroots sports.
With the tournament now concluded and Santos Sports Academy celebrating their championship triumph, attention has already shifted towards the next project on the organisers’ calendar, as preparations begin for the proposed IFO Sports Award.
The initiative is expected to further recognise and celebrate outstanding individuals and teams contributing to the development of sports within the community.
