WAFU-B WCL Final: Edo Queens Shine as Adegbuyi Wins Best Player, Anastasia Takes Top Scorer Award

Edo Queens capped a memorable WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers campaign in Burkina Faso with a historic victory, while their standout players dominated the individual awards.

Edo Queens’ No. 20, Oluwakemi O. Adegbuyi, was named the Best Player of the Tournament for the 2026 edition following a consistently impressive campaign.

Sports247 reports that Adegbuyi was recognised for her leadership, influence and outstanding performances throughout the competition, earning the prestigious individual trophy after playing a key role in Edo Queens’ successful run.

Her teammate, Doosur Anastasia, also claimed the Top Scorer award, finishing the tournament as the competition’s leading goalscorer. Her decisive finishing and ability to deliver at crucial moments earned her the Golden Boot.

The goalkeeping award went to Rose Teye Baah, the No. 1 goalkeeper of Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa. She was rewarded for her crucial saves, consistency and commanding performances throughout the tournament.

The individual honours came after a dramatic final between Edo Queens and Ampem Darkoa.

The final ended 2–2 after regulation time, forcing the contest into a decisive penalty shootout. Edo Queens held their nerve from the spot, securing a 4–1 victory on penalties to claim the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers title.

Ampem Darkoa’s No. 17, Beline Nyarkoh, was named Woman of the Match in the final after an outstanding individual performance. Despite her team’s eventual defeat, Nyarkoh impressed with her determination and influence throughout the encounter.

The awards brought the curtain down on an enthralling tournament in Burkina Faso, with Edo Queens emerging as the major beneficiaries after combining team success with individual brilliance.

With Adegbuyi crowned Best Player and Anastasia finishing as Top Scorer, Edo Queens’ remarkable campaign was further underlined by the quality of their key performers.
