The organisers of the Abeokuta 10KM Race 2026 have announced a change to the date of the highly anticipated road race, with the event now scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Sports247 reports that the race was earlier fixed for September 26, 2026, but the organisers have moved the event forward by one week as part of efforts to ensure a better experience for participants and spectators.
According to the organisers, the Abeokuta 10KM Race will begin at 7:00 a.m. from Macjob Grammar School, Onikolobo, with participants expected to make their way through the designated race route before crossing the finish line at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta.
The event is expected to bring together athletes, fitness enthusiasts, running clubs and members of the public for a competitive and community-focused road race in the Ogun State capital.
In a statement announcing the change, the organisers apologised to participants and stakeholders for any inconvenience caused by the adjustment, while assuring them that the additional time would be used to improve preparations for race day.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause. But sometimes, to make something better, we have to take a step back, make the necessary improvements, and come back stronger.”
The organisers further appealed to participants to remain patient and supportive as preparations continue behind the scenes.
“Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and for sticking with us. We’re putting in the work behind the scenes to make sure that when race day comes, it’s everything you deserve and more.”
With the new date now confirmed, runners and other stakeholders are expected to adjust their plans accordingly as the countdown to the Abeokuta 10KM Race continues.
The organisers have emphasised that while the date has changed, the purpose and excitement surrounding the race remain intact.
