While Rivers United’s attacking players grabbed the headlines, Clinton quietly went about his responsibility at the back as his side controlled the contest and protected a two-goal advantage.
Abdulrasheed Shehu Dabai opened the scoring early before Wasiu Falolu doubled the advantage in the 38th minute, giving Rivers United a commanding lead before the interval. The Pride of Rivers then managed the second half professionally to secure all three points and a clean sheet.

Following the impressive start to his domestic campaign, the Nigerian U20 goalkeeper has travelled with Rivers United to Côte d’Ivoire, where the club is preparing for its CAF Champions League preliminary-round assignment against FC San Pedro. CAF’s official draw confirms the meeting between the Ivorian side and Rivers United in the first preliminary round.
Should he be selected, Clinton could make his CAF Champions League debut, potentially adding a major continental milestone to what has already been a memorable start to his Rivers United career.
