Coach Taiwo Abiodun (aka Santos) is celebrating the acquisition of several awards by his team, Young Tigers Football Academy of Ikotun, after they emerged champions of the 2026 Alapoti Summer Championship Cup in Ogun State.
Sports247 gathered that, apart from clinching the competition’s coveted trophy, Young Tigers also won most of the individual awards on offer, due to excellent performance by their players.
‘Coach Santos’ further disclosed that his players put up a very brilliant performance from the group stage all the way to the final and ended the whole competition without conciding a single goal.
He added that it was really anazing that the team, whose training ground is within the Lanre/Igando axis of Alimosho local government area, won almost all the awards and were crowned champions in the competition’s under-10 category.
All the individual awards for Young Tigers FA were –
*Youngest best player: Akintola Noah (aka Ronaldo).
*Highest scorer: Taiwo Abdullahi (aka Messi), with 3 goals and 3 assist.
*Best Goalkeeper: Ayodeji Kehinde (with 5 clean sheets) not conceding any goal throughout the tournament.
*Best Player: Chika Zion (aka Zico).
*Best Fair Play: Adeniyi Isiah (aka Marcelo)
*Best Coach: Taiwo Abiodun (Santos).
*Best dressed team: Young Tigers Football Academy.
Sports247 reports further that, though his under-13 squad was knocked out during the quarter-finals, Coach Santos said they gave a good account of themselves and lost gallantly on penalties.
He then thanked the team’s fans, parents of the players and Young Tigers’ family as a whole for their support, sponsorship and heart of love that they gave for the journey.
