Atletico Madrid of Spain winger Ademola Lookman has stated his delight with his team’s return to winning ways in the Spanish La Liga and put it down to the ability of their ‘top players interlinking’ and playing together with extra commitment.
Sports247 reports that Lookman downplayed his personal impact with a goal that helped his side eke out victory, as he instead opted to look at the combination of all players in the squad that gave them a 3-1 victory over Sevilla.
Lookman scored Atletico’s second goal in the 26th minute but, while admitting he was pleased to be among the scorers, the 2024 African Footballer of the Year opted to commend his team’s performance, which he described as a united effort.
“I’m very happy with the three points, of course. We played very well. We were very sharp in the right moments. Good to get off the mark, of course. I’m happy to win, and that’s the most important thing.
“Also playing together as a team, in those moments, was great. Yeah, I’m happy. Obviously, top players interlinking together, playing with the same mindset. Of course, I’m happy to play with the guys,” Lookman said.
