Nigerian centre-forward Tolu Abiona has enjoyed a memorable start to his career in Turkey after winning his first trophy with Havataş Spor.
The young striker was part of the Havataş Spor side that produced a thrilling 4-3 victory over Fişekspor in the Zafer Kupası, with Abiona making a decisive contribution to the triumph.
Starting the match from the bench, the Nigerian forward was introduced as a substitute and wasted little time making his presence felt. He found the back of the net after coming on, helping Havataş Spor secure the victory and lift the coveted trophy.
For Abiona, it was a particularly special moment considering how quickly the achievement has arrived following his move to Turkey.
The promising forward joined Havataş Spor just last month from a Nigerian-based club, and he has already added his first piece of silverware to his growing football résumé.
Speaking after the triumph, Abiona said:
“Winning a trophy so soon after joining the club is a special feeling. I’m grateful to my teammates and everyone who has supported me.
Scoring in the game makes the moment even more memorable, but what matters most is that we fought together and brought the trophy home.”
The victory provides the Nigerian youngster with an early confidence boost as he continues adapting to football in Turkey.
His ability to come off the bench and immediately influence the game will also be encouraging as he looks to establish himself as an important attacking option for Havataş Spor.
From Nigeria to Turkey, Abiona’s journey is gathering momentum—and his first trophy has already arrived.
At just the beginning of his Turkish adventure, the young forward will now be hoping this is the first of many honours to come.
