Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen continued his impressive start to the Süper Lig campaign, scoring from the penalty spot and providing an assist as Galatasaray defeated Göztepe 3–2 in a thrilling encounter.
Sports247 reports that the Nigerian forward once again proved decisive for the Turkish champions, playing a central role in two of Galatasaray’s three goals as they fought back from an early deficit to claim all three points.
Göztepe made the brighter start and took the lead in the 16th minute through Novatus Miroshi, who converted an opportunity created by André.
Galatasaray responded strongly and found their equaliser in the 33rd minute, with Davinson Sánchez getting on the scoresheet to restore parity before the interval.
Osimhen then turned provider shortly after the restart. In the 55th minute, the Nigerian supplied the assist for Gabriel Sara, who completed the move to put Galatasaray ahead for the first time. The Super Eagles striker was not finished.
Eight minutes later, Osimhen stepped up to take a 63rd-minute penalty and confidently converted from the spot to extend Galatasaray’s advantage to 3–1.
Göztepe immediately responded, with Juan finding the net just two minutes later to reduce the deficit and set up a tense final period. Galatasaray, however, held firm to secure a hard-fought 3–2 victory.
The performance further underlines Osimhen’s influence at the start of the campaign. The striker has now recorded five goals and two assists in his opening three Süper Lig matches, maintaining a remarkable scoring run after registering braces against Çorum FK and Erzurumspor FK earlier in the month.
His latest contribution once again demonstrates his ability to influence matches in different ways, combining goalscoring with creative play.
For Galatasaray, the victory keeps their campaign moving in the right direction, while Osimhen continues to emerge as one of the key figures in their attacking setup. The Nigerian will now look to maintain his remarkable form as the season gathers pace.
