A youngster who is currently making waves in the Agege area of Lagos, Hamzat Malik, has come out with a startling revelation that, although he is a striker, Lionel Messi is his favourite player.
Rather than choose Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland or Victor Osimhen as his football idol, Malik told Sports247 with an affirmation that his top player is always Messi.
The dazzling youngster, who is one of many hugely talented lads currently growing in the ranks of Adwaaik Football Academy of Agege, went on to explain that he cherishes how Messi adds goals scoring to his basic role as a playmaker.
The youngster, who previously played for Fantastic FC of Alaguntan Field, near Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, further disclosed that he would love to sign for Chelsea of England at the start of his professional football career in Europe.
Malik, who is still a student at State Secondary School, Moshalashi, added: “I am happy with what my coach is teaching me about football in my current team. He has been encouraging me very well since I joined them in 2023.
“I am sure that what I am learning now will help me to play for Chelsea in the future, because I’m already one of their fans. I also want to win eight Ballon d’Or awards like my football hero, Messi.”
Spoets247 adds that Malik recently wowed a large gathering spectators with a well-struck goal for his team in the ongoing Seamoriow U15 Football Competition at Islamic area of Ikotun, Lagos.
