Edo Queens of Benin City attacker, Mary Mamudu became the latest reenage sensation to flaunt in Nigeria’s female youth national team, Falconets, following her well taken goal against Poland during Friday’s international friendly, Sports247 reports.
Mamudu notched the only goal of the game late in the opening half to give Moses Aduku’s squad a morale boosting win in their first build-up game after arriving in Poland for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in the East European nation.
Aduku’s lasses appeared to give a good reflection of what they have in store for the upcoming Female Youth Mundial, as they dominated their hosts during Friday’s game and kept their feet on the throttle from beginning to end at the Municipal Stadium in Brzeg.
Eventually, with time running out, Mamudu scored the only goal of the match in added time of the first half, as Aduku’s squad gained a much-needed winning aura and morale boost ahead of their next build-up match on Tuesday against Republic of Korea.
The game versus Korea will take place at Remes Sports Leisure & Spa Stadium, whre Aduku’s team will seek another win, which would put the two-time Women’s U20 World Cup runners-up in a buoyant frame of mind ahead of their first match at this year’s global championship.
Their opening game comes up against Spain on September 7th, after which the Falconets will tackle China on the 10th, while their last group match will be against New Caledonia on 13th of same month, during which they will aim to go beyond their runners-up spots of 2014 and 2018.
Sports247 gathered further that 18-year-old Mamudu will also hope for victories in all three group matches at the World Cup, so that she will have the opportunity of celebrating her birthday in grand style on September 16th, with a spot in the second round and beyond at Poland 2026.
