New arrival at Bristol City of England, Elijah Anuoluwapo Oluwaferanmi Oluwatomi Oluwalana Ayomikulehin Adebayo has expressed sheer delight with his ability to link forces with the English Championship side, as it is an opportunity to play himself back into the spotlight.
Sports247 reports that the 28-year-old Adebayo was in an upbeat mood during his first interview on arrival at his new base, and the former Luton Town of England ace declared that he is determined to make the best of his free transfer in a two-year contract with The Robins.
It marks the formalization of Adebayo’s link with the team he joined for pre-season training earlier this ninth, after leaving Luton at the advent of summer and the ambitious striker, who will wear jersey number 45, becomes City’s 10th signing of this outgoing transfer window.
“I can’t wait to get started. The place has a feel-good factor, and it has been easy for me to settle in. The gaffer has been very clear with what he wants from us and how to attack the season.
“That is a big reason why I wanted to join. I will try and use my experience to push the group and get everyone going in the same direction,” said Adebayo, whose first club was Fulham, which he joined at under-nine level, and signed a scholarship in August 2014.
Sports247 reports further that Adebayo, who also previously played for Slough Town, Bognor Regis Town, Cheltenham Town, Swindon Town, Stevenage and Walsall, was released by Luton at the end of last season, though he had scored 47 goals in 184 games.
He maced some top marks with The Hatters, while playing a pivotal role in helping them gain promotion to the English Premier League in 2023 and then scored the club’s first-ever top-flight hat trick, in a 4-0 win over Brighton.
After leaving Kenilworth Road, where first arrived in 2021, Adebayo turned his attention quickly towards Bristol City, where he is the club’s 10th summer signing by their new manager, Michael Skubala.
The gaffer said he was excited about being able to sign Adebayo and added: “We know what a good player Elijah is and he gives us something different going forward. We all got to know him in pre-season, and we are excited to have him as part of the group.”
