Nigeria’s beach volleyball sensation, Esther Mbah, has promised that she and her colleague, Pamela Bawa, will use strategies that go ‘beyond the normal’ and avoid ‘traditional approaches’ to excel at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA.
Sports247 reports that Mbah made the pledge during a welcome back event and victory reception organised for both players, alongside their colleagues from Vipers Volleyball Club in Abuja, by the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
Mbah revealed their plans towards LA 2028 after Adeniyi charged both players to immediately shift attention away from their conquest of the 2026 African Beach Volleyball Championship in Alexandria, Egypt, where they secured Nigeria’s first ever Olympics ticket in beach volleyball.
Adeniyi further urged Mbah and Bawa to sustain the desire and determination that propelled them to continental glory, while also affirming that their spot at the Olympics should mark the beginning of a serious preparation process, rather than the end of their international journey.
While speaking on behalf of the duo, Mbah stated that the African title is just a stepping stone towards the duo’s bigger objective, hence their readiness to put in a better approach that would help them to compete better and more effectively against the world’s best.
“We are going for a high-level competition, and we are not going to use the normal way we have or the traditional way. We have to think outside the box and try to do things that will make us dominate over there.” Mbah assured, while affirming that she has total understanding with Bawa.
