New arrival at Ajax Amsterdam of Netherlands, Tolu Arokodare says he is determined to replicate with the Dutch giants the top goals scoring form that shot him to international limelight during his days with RKC Genk of Belgium, Sports247 reports.
The dark-skinned hitman showed a glimpse of what to expect from him with a well placed goal for Ajax during their 4-2 win away to FC Sion of Switzerland on Thursday night in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers, and declared that he’s eager to get more.

Arokodare admitted he did not have a swell time during his days at Wolverhampton Wanderers of England, where he spent the whole of last season, but the giant striker, who grew up in FESTAC Town area of Lagos, affirmed that he has put that setback behind him.
He asserted that, rather than dwell on the misfortune that moving to Wolves turned out to be for him, he is looking forward and now concentrating fully on how to redeem himself with sparkling performances for Ajax, where a strong Nigerian tradition remains very memorable.
From the days of Nwankwo Kanu and Finidi George, who helped the club win the UEFA Champions League in 1995, to Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh, Pius Ikedia and Tijjani Babangida, the impact of Nigerian players at Ajax has been legendary and Arokodare is determined to replicate it.
Although the 25-year-old striker is in Amsterdam only on a season-long loan from Wolves, Ajax have an option to buy his contract outright, and Arokodare, who also scored during his first appearance in a pre-season friendly against Volendam, is determined to shake the Eredivisie.
The lanky lad told ESPN, “I’ve been preparing well with the Ajax team and the players and I’m focused on this season. I’m focused on getting better, focused on better things for myself.
Focused on not making the same mistakes.
“That’s all I’m focused on; not focused on last season. I didn’t do what my number one job is, which is to score goals. I didn’t do it as much as I would have loved to. The goal for me this season is to score more goals and help the team.
“I never put numbers to what I want to do. I just try to do better than my previous season. Obviously, in my previous season, I didn’t score a lot of goals. So, my aim now is to do better than my season in Belgium; just to score goals as much as I can.”
Sports247 recalls that Arokodare hit stardom after scoring 21 goals in Belgium’s 2024/25 season to finish as the league’s top scorer and he also won the Ebony Shoe as best African player, while his total haul with Genk was 41 goals in 113 games across all competitions.
