The 2026 Zenith Women’s Basketball League, which commences this Sunday in the Lagos Conference and on Monday at the Savannah zone, will produce more talented players for the female national team, D’Tigress, Sports247 reports.
This prediction was provided by the group managing director and chief executive officer of Zenith Bank, Dame (Dr) Adaora Umeoji, who also disclosed that she was delighted seeing that the highly competitve domestic competition is about to take off.

Umeoji’s enthusiasm came after Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) secretary-general, Amina Amanchi confirmed that everything is set for the national women’s league sponsored by Zenith Bank Plc to tip-off in two centres at the start of next week.
Amanchi added that this year’s Zenith Women’s Basketball League will hold in Atlantic and Savannah centres, with four teams contesting in each zone’s Phase 1 and Phase 2 fixtures that are scheduled for Lagos and Jos, then qualify for the finals.
The Atlantic Conference will feature First Bank, Sunshine Angels, IGP Queens, First Deep Waters, Delta Force, MFM Women, Dolphins and Bayelsa Whales; while Savannah has Nigeria Customs, Royal Aces, Titans, Nasarawa Babes, Kada Angels, Nigeria Army, Plateau Rocks and Air Warriors of Abuja.
Umeoji revealed her expectations from the competition and stated, “We look forward to this every year, because we are proud that this tournament has over the years produced superstars for Nigeria and places our country above all others on the continent.
“The women’s national team, D’Tigress, have also made huge impact at global stages of the Olympic Games and FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. This time, we expect some players to emerge and transit to the next level in the national team.”
