The maiden edition of Benue State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia’s Summer Tennis Camp is stirring excitement, after starting on Monday in the capital, Makurdi, with officials highlighting many benefits that lie along the way.
Sports247 reports that the chairman of Benue State Lawn Tennis Association, Victor Hemba noted that there are many gains attached to tennis as a sport and expressed hope that the camp for six to 16 year old players, as well as its tag-along competition, will end successfully August 24th at Aper Aku Stadium.

The ex-international player and member of Nigerian Tennis Federation (NTF) executive committee, representing North-Central, further enthused that the camp will lead to the discovery of new talents, just it was when he started playing the game at age four and developed into the international level.
Hemba added, “The tournament will be under the mentorship of great tennis coaches and resource persons who will mentor the children on developing their interests in tennis, because some of them start very well.
“Benue is one of the states that, anywhere we go for a tennis tournament, we are acknowledged. That is why we are going to invite the Governor for the youth tennis final to come, partake and see what we are doing.
“We are looking forward to hosting His Excellency, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, and also tell him of the massive benefits that tennis attracts worldwide. We are looking forward to hosting him.”
