Femmco Football Academy captain Adu Segun produced a sensational individual performance, scoring a hat-trick as his side secured a commanding victory over Santos Elite in the opening U-17 fixture of the Femmco Football Championship August Camping in Ifo, Ogun State.
Segun led from the front, finding the back of the net three times to underline his quality in front of goal and give his team a memorable start to the competition.

The young captain opened the scoring in the 19th minute, before completing his brace in the 36th minute. He then completed his hat-trick just three minutes after the restart, scoring in the 48th minute to put the result beyond doubt.
His performance immediately placed him among the early standout players of the U-17 category, but the young striker insists the collective effort of his teammates was the biggest factor behind the emphatic victory.
Speaking after the match with Sports247, Segun expressed his delight with the result while acknowledging that Femmco will face tougher challenges as the tournament progresses.
“I am happy for the win and as we work as a team, it really helps. With more challenging games ahead, we will prepare for it,” he told Sports247.
Despite his impressive hat-trick, Segun revealed that his biggest priority is not individual recognition but helping his team progress as far as possible in the competition.
Asked whether he would prefer winning personal awards or helping his team qualify for the knockout rounds, the Femmco captain was unequivocal.
“I prefer qualifying than earning individual awards like Abdulmuiz Adeleke did in Ghana for Nigeria U20 during the WAFU B.”
His response reflects a team-first mentality that could prove valuable as Femmco navigate the demanding championship.
Segun also has ambitions that stretch far beyond the current competition. The talented youngster dreams of representing Nigeria at the FIFA World Cup someday and believes achieving that objective would represent the pinnacle of his football journey.
“I look forward to achieving a World Cup dream for Nigeria. It will be massive for me,” he said.
With three goals already to his name and the confidence of leading his team as captain, Segun has made an early statement at the Femmco Football Championship. However, his comments suggest that the youngster is more interested in collective success than personal glory—a mentality that could become just as important as his goalscoring ability in the development of his promising career.
