Ifeanyi Amadi Flaunts His Rich Pedigree As Staunch Defender, Ubiquitous Coach For Nigeria’s Youth National Team Appointment

The head coach of Vido 99 FC of Surulere, Lagos, Ifeanyi Kingsley Amadi (aka Sample) is flaunting a strong pedigree and fat dossier of his past achievements – as a staunch defender and vastly experienced tactician – to boost his chances of getting a youth natiomal team job in the near future.

Sports247 reports that, while affirming his total loyalty and commitment to his present employers and talented players at Vido 99, ‘Coach Sample’ admitted he would love to handle the Golden Eaglets in years to come.

He cited the experience he gained as a player with some leading youth clubs while he was growing up in Lagos, among which were the highly successful squads of Mighty Rovers of Ijesha and Young Stars of Satellite Town.

The former versatile defender, who could play as a full back on both left and right sides as well as a central defender, recalled how he also featured for National Grassroots Dream Team and Tamuno Inaemi Nationale of Ikeja, which was sponsored by former Super Eagles stopper, Taribo West.

‘Sample’ also has lots of experience from playing in the domestic league, as he festured for 36 Lion FC of Lagos in the lower echelon and Jigawa Golden Stars of Dutse in the top-flight cadre, with strong performances in both squads to boost his strong credentials.

His days of youth and league experience soon came in handy when he eventually dropped his boots and took to coaching, as he started out as an assistant with his former club, Young Stars, before becoming head gaffer of Potters FC at Olympic Field, near The Lord’s Chosen Church headquarters, off Ijesha Express Bus Stop.

The soft-spoken yet highly ambitious tactician soon started making waves as one of the fastest growing young coaches in Lagos, as he waxed strong with Navy Town FC at Naval Barracks near Alakija Bus Stop, along Mile 2 – Badagry Expressway.

His next port of call was DN10 FC at Abule-Ado, followed by Paddysco Sport Academy at 22 Road in FESTAC Town and G-Innovation FC at Oshodi Army Cantonment, all with huge achievements to boot.

‘Coach Sample’ is now making things happen at Vido 99 FC, with regular drills and innovative training sessions at Abati Barracks, near Ojuelegba, where he believes the best of Nigeria’s future stars are already unfolding.

He added in a chat with Sports247: “I am happy with what I’m doing, and I’m fully committed to the club. We are strictly involved in developing young players like a football academy.

“I believe the experience that I am gaining now, plus what I learnt as a player, will make it possible for me to one day in the future handle one of Nigeria’s youth national teams.

“I won’t mind coaching either the under-15 team, known as Baby Eagles, or the under-17, which is the Golden Eaglets. That’s for the future but, for now, I’m thinking only of Vido 99 FC.”
