Nigerian youngsters Miracle Ezechukwu and Success Oyibu have come under the spotlight as the World Athletics U20 Championships get underway at Hayward Field, University of Oregon, in Eugene, United States.
The five-day championship, scheduled for August 5–9, 2026, has brought together the world’s leading young athletes, with Nigeria represented by a 15-member team across several events.
Ezechukwu and Oyibu are among the Nigerian athletes tipped for success and are attracting attention in the women’s sprint events.
Ezechukwu is entered for both the women’s 100m and 200m, while Oyibu will compete in the women’s 200m, allowing the two teenagers to showcase their potential on one of athletics’ biggest global stages.
World Athletics has highlighted the Nigerian duo among the young talents to watch, adding further attention to Nigeria’s sprint prospects as the country continues to develop a new generation of athletes.
Ezechukwu’s participation in two individual sprint events makes her one of Nigeria’s key athletes in Oregon.
The 100m and 200m double will provide a significant test of her speed, consistency and ability to manage the demands of competing in successive rounds at a major championship.
