Team Nigeria’s Captain Folashade Oluwafemiayo Declares: ‘Our Training Facilities Have Been Top Quality’

Team Nigeria’s female captain for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, Folashade Oluwafemiayo is beaming with saatisfaction inside the contingent’s pre-competition camp at Aberdeen Sports Village (ASV), where she disclosed that the ‘training facilities have been top quality.’

Sports247 reports that Oluwafemiayo is leading a splash of accolades on the complex by Nigeria’s athletes for the upcoming Games, as they are unnanimous in their verdict that the National Sports Commission (NSC) has given them the best build-up camp possible.

A cross-section of the Nigerian competitors praised the NSC for what they referred to as unprecedented arrangements, quality preparation, improved welfare and far-reaching support ahead of the multi-sports competition, which is scheduled to hold from July 23rd to August 2nd.

They joinly echoed the captain’s sentiments, disclosing that the camp is filled with optimism, unity and determination to make Nigeria proud in Glasgow, ahead of which the athletes noted that early planning has eliminated challenges that previously affected Nigeria’s participation at major international competitions.

Oluwafemiayo also lauded the NSC for creating a conducive environment that has allowed the athletes to focus fully on their preparations, and she went on to describe the new approach as athlete-centred, while also noting that the officials gave a timely provision of training facilities and quality kits.

The para-powerlifting champion and world record holder further commended the NSC for providing the atthletes with improved welfare packages, better accommodation and adequate medical support, all of which she affirmed have significantly boosted morale of the contingent heading into the Games.

“We are genuinely impressed with the level of preparation. The welfare has been excellent, our training facilities have been top quality, the kits are ready, and every athlete feels valued.

“The National Sports Commission has demonstrated a genuine commitment to ensuring that Team Nigeria is adequately prepared to compete at the highest level. We sincerely appreciate the leadership of the Commission for this remarkable support,” Oluwafemiayo submitted.
