‘Coming Back Stronger Made This MVP Even More Special’ — Christabel Chukwuonye Reflects On Injury Comeback

Female Yellow Greens bowler Christabel Chukwuonye says overcoming injury made her MVP-winning performance at the Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament even more rewarding.

Nigeria women’s cricket star Christabel Chukwuonye has revealed that overcoming injury setbacks made her Most Valuable Player award at the Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament even more meaningful.

The Female Yellow Greens bowler played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s bronze medal-winning campaign in Kigali, producing a series of outstanding performances despite battling injuries in the build-up to the tournament.

“Coming back stronger made this MVP award even more special for me,” Chukwuonye said.

The Nigerian international admitted that injuries can take a heavy toll on an athlete’s confidence but said her determination to return stronger kept her motivated throughout her recovery.

According to Chukwuonye, every challenge she faced only strengthened her belief in herself.

“Injuries can affect your confidence and morale, but I kept believing, kept working and trusted the recovery process,” she added.

The star bowler also paid tribute to the people who stood by her during the difficult period, crediting their encouragement and prayers for helping her regain full fitness.

She believes their unwavering support played a crucial role in her return to top form.

“The support, encouragement and prayers I received meant everything to me. They gave me the strength to come back and perform at my best,” she stated.

Chukwuonye’s inspirational comeback culminated in an outstanding tournament in Rwanda, where she helped Nigeria secure the bronze medal while earning the prestigious Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, further cementing her status as one of the country’s leading cricketers.
