Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi was one of the first set of players to arrive the Asaba camp on Sunday ahead of the Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be hosted by Egypt.
The team began its pre-tournament camp at the Delta State capital on Sunday morning with Mikel, among the first set of players to arrive.
The former Chelsea midfielder last played for Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup but coach Gernot Rohr included him in his 25-man provisional squad for the tournament last month.
Leon Balogun, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Samuel Kalu, Moses Simon, John Ogu Ugochukwu, Chidozie Awaziem and in-demand striker Victor Osimhen also got to camp early.
The remaining fifteen players are expected to join the team on Monday morning even as full training session commences on that day.
The Super Eagles will play Zimbabwe in a pre-tournament friendly at Asaba on the 8th of June after which they would leave for Ismailia before facing Senegal in another friendly on June 16.
Nigeria are in Group B of the AFCON standings and would face Burundi, Madagascar and Guinea in the competition.
