Former Nigerian goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba has stated that selecting a new first-choice goalkeeper for the Super Eagles should not become a major problem for the national team’s technical crew.
The former shot-stopper made the comments amid growing discussions surrounding Nigeria’s goalkeeping situation after Stanley Nwabali was overlooked again.

“Finding a new goalkeeper shouldn’t be difficult,” Aiyenugba said.
According to the former Super Eagles goalie, the current situation simply requires proper evaluation and balance within the squad.
“It’s about testing and finding the right balance,” he implied.
Aiyenugba believes the upcoming Unity Cup provides the perfect opportunity for the coaching crew to assess fresh options between the posts.
“The Unity Cup is a good avenue to test another goalkeeper,” he noted.
The former international stressed that competition for places remains healthy and necessary for the growth of any national team.
“Every position needs competition,” he added.
Nigeria’s goalkeeping department has become a major talking point as coach Eric Chelle continues rebuilding the Super Eagles squad.
“The technical crew must make important decisions soon,” many football observers believe.
Aiyenugba remains confident that Nigeria still possesses enough quality goalkeepers capable of handling the pressure of international football.
“The country still has talented goalkeepers,” he stressed.
