Henry Nwosu’s Commemorative Match To Draw Huge Crowd On Saturday At Saint Finbarr’s College

A novelty football match organised to commemorate the funeral of ex-international, Henry Nwosu is expected to draw a huge crowd themiz Saturday at Saint Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos.

Sports247 gathered that, among personalities expected to grace the match is chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, who will hold talks with Nwosu’s ganiky before kick-off.

In what is regarded as a confirmation of the NSC’s commitment towards according Nwosu a state burial, Dikko has officially confirmed that he will be present at the match.

Dikko is expected to join a large array of football fans and stakeholders in watching the day’s match between Saint Finbarr’s College Old Boys Association and a team of Ex-Internationals named Lagos Legends.

A media statement by the organisers disclosed, “The match, scheduled for 10am on May 23rd at Saint Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos, is part of a series of burial events lined up to give the 1980 AFCON winner, a dignified farewell.

“Mallam Dikko, known for his passionate advocacy for sports development and the welfare of Nigeria’s fallen heroes, is expected to arrive at the venue by 9:30 am to interact with the Nwosu’s family, ex-internationals, and the old boys’ community before kick’off.

“The presence of the nation’s top sports administrator underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to that Henry Nwosu is not buried in obscurity. Old boys, and football lovers are urged to arrive early, as security and seating have been upgraded to accommodate the anticipated crowd.”
