Head coach of the Tanzania national football team, Miguel Gumondi, has declared that his team will be ready to compete strongly when the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers begin later this year.
Reacting to the CAF draw which placed Tanzania alongside Nigeria, Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, Gumondi expressed confidence in the continued growth of the Taifa Stars.

“We will be ready to compete,” Gumondi said.
According to the Tanzania coach, his side gained valuable experience from their recent AFCON participation and now hopes to continue building momentum.
“We had a decent tournament and want to improve further,” he implied.
Gumondi stressed that Tanzania’s objective is to continue developing steadily while remaining competitive against stronger African football nations.
“The team keeps growing gradually,” he noted.
The coach also explained that consistent improvement and maintaining competitiveness will be key to Tanzania’s long-term football ambitions.
“We must keep finding ways to improve,” he added.
Tanzania’s recent performances have increased optimism around the national team as they attempt to establish themselves more consistently at continental tournaments.
“The team is moving in the right direction,” many football observers believe.
The Taifa Stars are expected to approach the qualifiers with confidence despite sharing a group with traditional African giants Nigeria.
“We respect every opponent, but we fear nobody,” Gumondi stressed.
For the Tanzania coach, the message is clear.
The team is developing steadily.
The ambition is growing.
And Tanzania is ready to compete strongly in the AFCON qualifiers.
Because progress in African football belongs to nations willing to improve continuously and compete fearlessly.
