Arsenal’s Nigerian-born trio of Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka have turned their focus towards next weekend’s UEFA Champions League final against Paris-Saint Germain of France, as they seek another pinch of history.

Madueke, Eze and Saka join Nwankwo Kanu as the next set of players with Nigerian blood to lift the English Premier League title, with the achievement coming after 22 years since the club last achieved the feat.

It also put an end to the riddle of finishing second three seasons in a row and ended the mystery of ‘bottling’ the title chase at the most crucial time of each campaign, while their gaffer, Mikel Arteta becomes the second Spaniard to clinch it.

A report by UK’s Daily Mail revealed, “Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions, ending a 22-year wait for the English title since the Invincibles team of 2004 (after) Manchester City drew 1-1 with Bournemouth on Tuesday.

“(It gave) The Gunners an unassailable lead at the top of the table after they beat Burnley on Monday. The Arsenal squad gathered at their training base to watch Man City’s clash with The Cherries in the hope they could be crowned champions.

“Mikel Arteta’s men have been runners-up in the last three seasons but can finally call themselves Kings of England. Their last team to win the Premier League was in 2004, when Thierry Henry and Co went unbeaten through the entire 38-game season.”

The report added, that Britain’s Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, who is a fan of The Gunners, celebrated with the team and wrote on social media: ’22 long years for the Arsenal. But finally, we’re back where we belong. Champions!’
