Nigerian-born female boxer, Caroline Sara Dubois is staying humble, despite pulling off a sensational sequence of punches and footwork in clinching the unified world lightweight boxing title, Sports247 reports.

Following the footsteps of her older brother, Daniel, who is a former world heavyweight boxing champ, Caroline stole the show on Sunday night at London’s Olympia Arena, where she overcame Terri Harper in a unanimous decision of 98-91, 97-92, 98-91.

It took a cagey cat-and-mouse bout of ten rounds for the winner to emerge and, at the end of it all, three judges gave it to Caroline, who has held the World Boxing Council (WBC) female lightweight title since December 2024.

The new unified champ, who had also previously held the World Boxing Organisation (IBO) belt, was an amateur title holder at the Youth Olympic Games, World Youth Championships and four-time European Youth champion.

She is of Nigerian descent through her mother and one of eleven children raised in a single-parent family by their father, who is a native of Grenada and encouraged her to start boxing at the age of nine.

Her father enrolled her to start training at Repton Amateur Boxing Club, a top-flight centre where her older brother, Daniel, passed through in his early days, and she began her routine by pretending to be a boy named Colin.

Caroline made her professional debut at Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales by defeating Vaida Masiokaite on points and beat Magali Rodriguez in her eighth pro-fight to get IBO’s lightweight belt on September 30th, 2023 at London’s York Hall.

On February 3rd, 2024, Caroline made a successful first defense of her title with a unanimous decision win over Miranda Reyes at Wembley Arena in London, and later made a high-profile defence of her title against Camilla Panatta.

That fight took place at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, USA, as an undercard of the Jake Paul versus Anthony Joshua fight on December 19th, 2025 and Caroline won the fight by unanimous decision, after initially flooring her opponent in round six.

While brandishing the WBC lightweight belt, Caroline faced Harper on Sunday night in London to unify the WBO title, which she did by initially dropping her British rival in the sixth round en route to winning by a unanimous decision.

Yorkshire’s Harper is a three-weight world champion and established on the British boxing scene, but she had a point to prove against Dubois, who admitted afterwards that she received sternest professional challenge so far.

However, rather than boast about her acumen, Caroline chose to stay humble, as she praised her opponent for putting up a great challenge that made the fight go the distance.

“I know the Terri Harper fans will be upset, but she put on a good show and is a very good boxer. This was never personal for me; though it was personal for Terri. I am an entertainer and put myself out there for you guys.

“What an atmosphere. Women’s boxing has always been on the backburner, but we put it at the forefront. So, thanks to everyone who turned up and fought on the card. I couldn’t do it without you,” Caroline told Sky Sports.
