This confirmation comes on the heels of a heated challenge Oba Femi threw at the glamorous World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) icon two weeks ago, then dumped him over the ropes and now has his wish for a bout come true.
It will become the biggest night in the grapplers’ roped squad for Oba Femi, who was born in Lagos on April 22nd, 1998, then geew up to compete in athletics during his high school and college years.
After signing with the WWE in 2021 through the outfit’s NIL program, the son of Niyi and Maria Odugbesan won the 2023 NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament and 2024 Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge.
Oba Femi attended the University of Lagos, where he won ten shot put medals in the Nigerian University Games Association during his freshman season in 2016, but he had been a fan of professional wrestling since the age of six.
With Triple H and The Undertaker being his favorite wrestlers, Oba Femi was bound to make a switch and follow his passion, after he moved to USA in the fall of 2017 on a track and field scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University.
After passing through the ranks in USA’s professional wrestling scene, the big breakthrough for Oba Femi came at Royal Rumble on January 31st this year, as he entered the namesake match as the first entrant.
He eliminated five wrestlers before he was sent packing by Brock Lesnar, who he then attacked on the March 16 episode of Raw, by hitting him with his Fall From Grace powerbomb and accepted his open challenge for WrestleMania 42.
A report by Yahoo Sports adds, “WrestleMania 42 is just weeks away. For the second year in a row, WWE takes its annual two-night extravaganza to Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on April 18 and April 19.
“This year’s WrestleMania is headlined by two big championship matches: Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton for Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship and CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship.
“In total, 12 matches have been confirmed for the weekend, including eight championship matches and a much-anticipated showdown between new-school and old-school giants, Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar.”
