In separate letters dated April 2, 2026, and addressed to the Chief Operating Officers of both leagues, the NFF ordered immediate action against clubs that have failed, refused, or neglected to comply with rulings issued by the committee.
The directive, signed by the NFF PSAC Secretary Onoja Joshua Esq., stated that the decisions were reached during the committee’s meeting held between December 2 and 5, 2025, involving disputes between clubs and players or coaches.
According to the NFF, the rulings are in line with the 2025 FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, the FIFA Statutes (2025), and the NFF Statutes (2010).
Affected clubs are required to comply fully with the decisions released officially 5th February 2026 or face sanctions, including a ban from registering or transferring players within 45 days from the date of release of the decision.
“Specifically, the clubs would be banned from transfer of players and registering of new players (including transfer or registering of players from feeder teams to the senior teams),” the statement read.
The federation noted that some clubs have failed to meet their contractual obligations, prompting the enforcement directive.
As a result, both the NPFL and NNL have been instructed to immediately prevent the affected clubs from conducting any transfer activities until full compliance is achieved.
The enforcement process will be carried out in collaboration with the NFF Club Licensing Department to ensure adherence to the regulations.
The NFF also confirmed that a detailed list of affected clubs and individuals has been attached to the communication for guidance and implementation, some of the affected clubs includes Kano Pillars, Kastina United, Niger Tornadoes, Heartland FC, Gombe Utd, Sunshine Stars FC, Lobi Stars FC and others.
The move to enforce the decisions underscores the federation’s commitment to upholding contractual integrity and maintaining discipline within Nigerian football.
