A prestigious honour widely regarded as one of the biggest individual accolades in Turkish football.

It is a fitting reward for a player whose impact since arriving at Galatasaray has been nothing short of phenomenal.

Osimhen, however, was not present at the ceremony. In his absence, teammate and goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır stepped forward to receive the award an image that perfectly captured the unity and admiration within the Galatasaray dressing room.

But beyond the applause and silverware, this win carries deeper significance. Osimhen has etched his name into history as the first Nigerian and only the fifth non-Turkish player to claim the honour.

In doing so, he joins a distinguished group of past winners such as Alex de Souza, Fernando Muslera, Enner Valencia, and Mauro Icardi—players who left an indelible mark on Turkish football.

His journey to this moment has been driven by relentless consistency and elite-level performance. Week after week, Osimhen has delivered—scoring, assisting, leading the line with power and precision.

Whether under the bright lights of the UEFA Champions League or on the international stage with Nigeria, he has remained a constant threat.

Numbers only tell part of the story, but they still speak volumes. Goals in the Süper Lig, decisive strikes in Europe, and crucial contributions for the Super Eagles have all combined to make this one of the most complete seasons of his career.

In his reaction, Osimhen kept it simple and heartfelt—thanking the entire Galatasaray family: the fans, his teammates, the coaching crew, and the club leadership. It was a reminder that while individual awards shine brightly, they are often built on collective effort.

This latest recognition adds to a growing list of honours for the striker, including his recent Sportsman of the Year award at the GQ Türkiye Men of the Year ceremony.
