‘Score More Goals’  Okpara Demands Better From Eagles — Urges Clinical Edge Ahead Of Jordan Clash

Former Super Eagles defender Godwin Okpara has called for a sharper and more clinical performance from the national team ahead of their upcoming clash against Jordan, insisting that Nigeria must improve in front of goal.

Following what he described as an underwhelming display in their previous outing, Okpara did not hide his disappointment, particularly with the team’s inability to convert chances.

“I wasn’t impressed,” he admitted, pointing to missed opportunities that could have made a significant difference in the game.

For the former international, the issue is not a lack of talent or creativity, but rather efficiency in the final third. He believes the Super Eagles are creating enough chances but failing to capitalize on them, a weakness that could prove costly against stronger opposition.

“They need to take their chances,” he stressed, highlighting the importance of clinical finishing in modern football.

The upcoming match against Jordan now presents an opportunity for redemption.

Okpara expects the players to respond positively, showing greater composure and decisiveness in front of goal.

With new faces in the squad and competition for places intensifying, the game could also serve as a platform for players to prove their attacking capabilities.

Beyond individual performances, Okpara emphasized the need for collective improvement.

He suggested that better coordination, sharper decision-making, and improved movement in the attacking third will be key to unlocking defenses and converting opportunities into goals.

For Nigerian fans, the expectation is clear, a team with such attacking talent should be scoring more consistently.

As the Super Eagles prepare for the fixture, attention will be firmly on their attacking output and whether they can address the concerns raised.

Because in football, creating chances is only half the job.

And as Okpara insists, finishing them is what truly counts.
