Okoro Wins Big as Over 250 Golfers Turn up For Glamour Golf Showdown 

Godwin Okoro stole the spotlight with a commanding performance to emerge champion of the professional category at the glamorous Stephen Ebaretonbofa 50th Birthday Pro/Am Golf Tournament at the Benin Golf Club.

Okoro fired a brilliant gross score of 141 to leave his closest rival, Francis Epe (144), trailing in his wake. Collins Odile and Sunday Olopade had to settle for third place after both posted 149.

The week-long event delivered thrills across all categories as top golfers battled for honours.

Donatus Isuku emerged king of the Senior Tour with 158, beating Victor Enaigbe, who returned 163.

In the men’s handicap 0–12 category, Emmanuel Ighodaro dazzled with a net score of 70 to clinch top spot, ahead of Jude Igbinadolor (73) and Felix Utaji (74), while Osazee Iyare grabbed the best gross with 80.

Gordon Imadiyi ruled the 13–18 division with 76 net, edging Ehi Akpata and former captain Charles Ajayi.

Osayi Eghosa also shone brightly, conquering the 19–28 category ahead of John Yakubu and Reuben Mgbodi.

The women were not left out of the fireworks.

Ehis Igbinadolor emerged queen of the ladies’ 0–28 category with a solid 74 net, beating seasoned campaigners Nkeiruka Awiaka and Deborah Otabor. Maryann Shaibu grabbed the best gross prize.

Tinyan Otuomagie dominated the 29–36 category with 71 net, while Omosefe Osaghae claimed the veteran crown.

Over 250 golfers turned up for the spectacle, which blended fierce competition with celebration.

Organising committee chairman Kingsley Okunbor hailed the event as a massive success, as players and guests later gathered for a colourful gala night to celebrate Engr. Stephen Ebaretonbofa’s golden milestone.
